Town of Lexington Town Board
Special Meeting  --  April 14, 2008

            The Special Meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Lexington was called to order on April 14, 2008 at 10:00 AM by Supervisor Dixie Baldrey at the Lexington Municipal Building, followed by the pledge of allegiance.

Other Present: Janice Mellott, Ellouise Cole, and Dale Klein

            Supervisor Dixie Baldrey called the meeting to order and said that the meeting was being held to go into executive session to discuss labor negotiations that would be coming up for the coming year of 2008 and any other business that shall come before the board. 

            Members of the Town of Lexington Health Club, Janice Mellott, Ellouise Cole, and Dale Klein came before the Town Board Members to tell them that the Town of Lexington Health Club membership has been declining and they are now going to dissolve the organization.  Therefore, the conversation went to: “Would the Town of Lexington like to take over the responsibility of doing the Loan Closet, which is lending out their health care equipment to the Town of Lexington residents?”  A discussion was held and there have been volunteers that would come and loan it out to the residents of the town.

Take Over the Loan Closet

            On a motion by Council Member Keith Mellott, seconded by Council Member Maurice Nelson, the following resolution was
ADOPTED - Ayes - 5 - Baldrey, Byrne, Nelson, Mellott, Van Valkenburgh
                    Nays – 0

This Town Board of the Town of Lexington moves to take care the Health Club items that are in the Loan Closet and loan them out to the public as needed.

Resolutions #61-08
Plaque for Health Club

            On a motion by Council Member Lynn Byrne, seconded by Council Member Maurice Nelson, the following resolution was
ADOPTED - Ayes - 5 - Baldrey, Byrne, Nelson, Mellott, Van Valkenburgh
                     Nays – 0

            It is resolved that this Town of Lexington Town Board purchase an 8 X 10  plaque that would be hung in the Municipal Building saying that the Health Club did exists  for sixty-five years in the town --- a plaque for appreciation for their service at a cost of around $63.00.

Concerns

      Janice Mellott asked if there was anyway that the town could have newspapers for sale in the town.   A discussion was held.

            Supervisor Dixie Baldrey said that the Town of Lexington has been served with papers from the Estate of De Paolo because they would like the property / road abandoned by the town and allow them to take it back as a private road.  It is a town road by use and a neighbor, Mr. Crump doesn’t want it closed.  A discussion was held.

Go Into Executive Session

            On a motion by Council Member Keith Mellott, seconded by Council Member Paul Van Valkenburgh, the following resolution was
ADOPTED - Ayes - 5 - Baldrey, Byrne, Nelson, Mellott, Van Valkenburgh,
                    Nays – 0

            This Town Board moves to go into Executive Session to discuss the Highway Union Contract.  Time:  10:34 am

Leave Executive Session

            On a motion by Council Member Keith Mellott, seconded by Council Member Maurice Nelson, the following resolution was
ADOPTED - Ayes - 5 - Baldrey, Byrne, Nelson, Mellott, Van Valkenburgh,
                    Nays – 0

            This Town Board moves to leave Executive Session and return to the special meeting.  Time: 12:05 pm

Adjourn the Meeting

            Councilmember Lynn Byrne made a motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Councilmember Paul Van Valkenburgh.  All Agreed.

            Supervisor Dixie Baldrey adjourned the meeting.
