Budget Workshop

October 17, 2008

A special meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Lexington, County of Greene and the State of New York was held at the Municipal Building, 3542 Route 42, Lexington NY on October  17th, 2008 for a budget workshop.

The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Dixie Baldrey and followed by the pledge to the flag.

OTHERS PRESENT:  None

Budget Workshop

            Supervisor Dixie Baldrey presented the Tentative Budget to the Town Board Members at the last Town Board Meeting and said the workshop was to review the Tentative Budget and come up with a Preliminary Budget for 2009.

           The Council Members reviewed the 2009 Tentative Budget with Supervisor Baldrey and had their discussions on various line items.  . 

RESOLUTION #120-08

ADOPT PRELIMINARY BUDGET FOR 2009 GENERAL FUND

            On a motion from Councilmember Lynn Byrne, seconded by Councilmember Keith Mellott, the following resolution was

ADOPTED.   Ayes 5 -- Baldrey, Byrne, Nelson, Mellott, Van Valkenburgh

                      Nays 0        

            Resolved, that this Town Board does hereby accepts the Preliminary

General Fund Budget for fiscal year 2009 at 394,694., less Estimated Revenues of $74,140., less Unexpended Balance of $ 40,000. for a total of $ 280,554.to be raised by taxes.

RESOLUTION #121-08

ADOPT  PRELIMINARY  BUDGET FOR 2009 HIGHWAY FUND

            On a motion from Councilmember Lynn Byrne, seconded by Councilmember Keith Mellott, the following resolution was

ADOPTED.   Ayes 5 -- Baldrey, Byrne, Nelson, Mellott, Van Valkenburgh

                     Nays 0

            Resolved, that this Town Board does hereby accepts the Preliminary Highway Fund Budget for fiscal year 2009 at $ 543,772., less Estimated Revenues of $ 76,000., less Unexpended Balance of $ 20,000., for a total of 447,772., to be raised by taxes.

RESOLUTION #122

ADOPT  PRELIMINARY  BUDGET FOR 2009 SPECIAL LIGHTING DISTRICT FUND

            On a motion from Councilmember Lynn Byrne, seconded by Councilmember Paul Van Valkenburgh, the following resolution was

ADOPTED    Ayes 5 -- Baldrey, Byrne, Nelson, Mellott, Van Valkenburgh

                     Nays 0

            Resolved, that this Town Board does hereby accept the Preliminary Special Lighting District Budget at $ 2,000., for the fiscal year 2009

SET  DATE – PRELIMINARY BUDGET HEARING

            Supervisor Dixie Baldrey and the Town Board Members decided to hold the Preliminary Budget Hearing on the 2009 Budget on November 5th, 2008 @ 6:30 PM

It will be held before the next Town Board meeting, which was changed because of General Election.

            Being no further business, Supervisor Dixie Baldrey asked for a motion to adjourn. 

Councilmember Keith Mellott made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Councilmember Paul Van Valkenburgh.  Everyone Agreed.
